Complejo Recreo-Deportivo del Este

Bo. Tomás de Castro, Caguas, Puerto Rico

Caguas Municipal Government

2011 - 2017

The project's original objective was to create a family oriented sports complex. As such, it included 2 baseball parks, 1 soccer park and athletic track, running and bicycle tracks, children's waterpark, passive recreation plazas, generous green areas and two service buildings. It was built in a lot of 33 acres located in western Caguas.

All sports facilities were designed according to professional regulations: the baseball field as per MLB, the soccer field as per FIFA and the athletic track as per IAAF. The project incorporated sustainable site and architectural strategies: bio-swales to catch run-offs; grass irrigation from a cistern tank supplied with water by roof water recollection and connection to water well; full window façades with wide overhangs in the buildings for cross ventilation and natural illumination.
